Clothed Minds
Clothed Minds is a documentary focusing on the effects that school dress code policies have on Black girls in the Washington DC public and charter schools. Based on the report Dress Coded: Black Girls, Bodies and Bias in DC Schools from the National Women’s Law Center, Clothed Minds seeks to explore the impact of disproportionally enforcing dress codes on Black girls over other races and genders. The harsh punishments were proven to lead to detrimental effects on the girls’ school performance, self-esteem and even the ability to find and maintain work as adults.
Clothed Minds was selected as one of the Best of the Fest 2021 by KIDS FIRST! in association with the Planet Classroom Network.
