Chinese Pioneers

Education – 7 min

In 1829, the first Chinese immigrants arrived in Western Australia with British settlers, marking the start of the Chinese presence there. However, conditions turned increasingly hostile after 1901. To address these challenges, the Chinese community formed the “Chung Wah Association,” officially recognized by the Supreme Court of Western Australia on July 12, 1910. Over a century, they played a vital role in promoting Chinese culture and fostering positive relations with the local community in Perth.
