Could Basalt Rocks Help Solve Climate Change?
Science & Technology – 2 min

Can we transfer CO2 into basalt rocks for safe and permanent storage? Scientists in Iceland at the Hellisheidi power station in Iceland have been doing this. They trap CO2 and store it underground. They dissolve it in water and inject it into rocks, preventing the carbon from ever reaching our atmosphere. More research is underway to determine if this technology is safe for our environment in the long term as well as cost-effective on a global scale.
