Swimming Upstream

Film & Animation – 15 min

Swimming Upstream documents the Japanese Canadian community’s case against the British Columbia government. B.C. politicians of the day orchestrated the forced removal, deemed ethnic cleansing by the United Nations; the property dispossession, the second largest in Canada’s history; and community destruction. Japanese Canadians are in talks with B.C. for Redress following the 2012 provincial apology.
