The PAWS Project: AI for Wildlife Conservation

The impacts of ivory poaching are becoming increasingly harmful to elephant populations and their surrounding ecosystems. To combat this problem, Dr. Milind Tambe and his team from Harvard use artificial intelligence that aids rangers in drastically curtailing this practice. The PAWS Project uses patrol data and AI to predict, find, and dismantle poaching hotspots to protect the wildlife more accurately. The technology has been met with resounding success and continues to improve through its implementation in more conservation areas worldwide.
