Francis Poulenc, Sextet II. Divertissement: Andantino
When he first set out to write this piece, French composer, Francis Poulenc’s goal was to make changes to how people viewed wind instruments. Poulenc’s music was often seen as witty and somewhat satiric and it shows here. As you will see, it starts out soft and lighthearted but it soon picks up and soon sounds like something you would hear in a silent comedy.
