Fitting In
Film & Animation – 4 min

Fitting In is a symbolic social-impact film that draws a parallel between fitting into shoes and fitting into society, and, in doing so, it inspires us to embrace our unique personalities. In the film, different colored stockings symbolize different people, and each shoe represents our unique personalities. At the beginning of life, when the train of time starts moving, everyone “puts on” their own shoes, which encapsulate their own special, different selves. As the movie continues, it highlights how we often look at society, or the “golden” shoe, as being something worth attaining. It looks sparkly from a distance, and we try to climb up to it to try to fit into society’s expectations of us. However, when we try it on, we realize that it does not fit us. It is not who we truly are. We are much more unique than that “society shoe.” Meanwhile, the train of time is passing by. As a society, we should realize that we shouldn’t be chasing after that “society shoe,” and that instead, we should embrace our own, unique selves. We need to “throw away” that society shoe and be who we truly are: unique, special, different, and one-of-a-kind.
