What’s Happening in the Sahara Desert?
Activism – 2 min

The Sahara desert in Northern Africa is the biggest hot desert in the world. The Sahara struggles with desertification caused by declining rainfall, deforestation, and soil degradation, resulting in a lack of food and water in the area. When people don’t have the vital resources they need to survive, they migrate. The Great Green Wall, launched in 2007, aims to plant a 5000-square-mile-long line of trees to solve this problem, offering local people jobs, security, and a purpose to remain in their communities.
