Quintet for Winds, Op. 52

Dance & Music – 4 min

“Quintet for Winds, I. Sehr frisch und feurig”, from Theodor Anton Blumer, is a short quintet passage with a mix of blazing fast passages and rhythmically complex sections. This 3 and a half minute performance has been performed virtually by five students of Bard, but that is impossible to tell without the provided video. Jillian Reed’s flute floats above the ensemble, Kira Shiner’s oboe perfectly cuts through when necessary, Collin Lewis’s clarinet blends and supports the other members expertly, Eleni Georgiadis’s french horn glides through the middle range, and Anna Pem’s bassoon ties it all together with playing throughout its entire range.
