Out of Plastic
Activism – 19 min

“Out of Plastic” is a documentary film that sets out to explore the obscure depths of plastics in the Mediterranean. The film is set in the Balearic Islands, and offers viewers a moment to reflect on the profound presence of plastic in our lives and in our natural environment.
Out of Plastic was initiated by the cleanwave.org as a social movement in response to the growing plastic crisis around the world. Based on the island of Mallorca in the Mediterranean, we started to see how the growing pressures of tourism and our careless “throw-away“ culture of consumption was starting to truly affect the natural world.
This movement has now grown to become a network of free water refill points, an award-winning documentary film, and a transformative education program that reaches children across the Balearic islands.
